Andrew
Fleming
Andrew finished his degree at Melbourne University and worked for
two years as an assistant winemaker in his homeland of Australia
before heading to France, where he completed a Diplome Nationale
d’Oenolgue in Bordeaux in 1987. During his three years in France,
Andrew not only earned his certificate, but also worked vintage at
Chateau Haut Brion and learned to speak French. He then rounded out
his international experience at Matanzas Creek winery in Sonoma
Valley, California before returning back to Australia.
Andrew spent seven years as a winemaker at Lindemans’ Karadoc
winery, from 1989 to 1996. During his tenure at Lindemans, Andrew
was asked to work with Southcorp Wines’ French joint venture, La
Perouse, in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. Consequently he worked
double vintages for three years, spending harvest in both
hemispheres, making wines first in Australia and again in France.
In 1996, Andrew moved back to Australia full-time, as Winery Manager
at Seppelt Great Western, where he was responsible for making the
Victorian range of cool-climate wines. This provided the perfect
segue for his current role in one of Australia’s premier
cool-climate regions, the Yarra Valley.
Since June 2001, Andrew has been located at the picturesque
Coldstream Hills vineyard in the Yarra Valley, where Pinot Noir and
Chardonnay have become the major focus. As Andrew notes, the task of
winemaking has been made somewhat easier by the access to a wide
range of premium vineyards in the region. His goal is to make wines
that not only reflect the potential of the Yarra Valley, but
demonstrate regional expression, finesse and length.

Greg Jarratt
Greg grew up in the small town of Wagga Wagga, NSW. He was exposed to wine at an early age, enjoying a glass of wine now and again at the dinner table. Greg attended Sydney University, originally intending be a Chemical Engineer. However, he quickly realised that winemaking would be a much more interesting profession, so Greg earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Wine Science at Charles Sturt University.
Greg started his career with vintage work around Australia, and a vintage in the Bordeaux region of France as a "Flying Winemaker". His first full time job after finishing university in 1995 was with Coldstream Hills, where he learned about all aspects of the winemaking process as Assistant Winemaker and Cellar Hand. During his three-year tenure there Greg also spent time in France. In 1996 it was back to Bordeaux as a "Flying Winemaker", then the following year, in the Languedoc region working on Southcorp's "La Perouse" project. In January 1998, Greg moved again; this time to New South Wales' Hunter Valley where he made wines for a number of well-known Australian wineries including Lindemans, Tulloch and Hungerford Hill.
In August 2001, Greg returned to the Coldstream Hills winery in the Yarra Valley where he got his start. When asked why, he says without hesitation: "Without a doubt it's the Pinot. It's so much fun to make - temperamental and challenging. It can look great one week and then the next; you think you have done something wrong. Another week later, it's leaping out of the glass again."
Greg is a Len Evans Tutorial scholar, and has been an Associate Judge and Judge at a number of Australian wine shows including the Canberra National Wine Show and the Royal Sydney & Melbourne Wine Shows
